 High-Flux Isotope Reactor
Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge , TN USA

The Advanced Photon Source
Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL US

We do most of our research at the HFIR reactor at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Advanced Photon source at Argonne National Laboratory

HB1A

The Ames Laboratory HB-1A triple axis spectrometer is a fixed incident energy instrument residing at the High Flux Isotope Reactor at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  It is the workhorse instrument for the neutron scattering group.

X-Ray 4-Circle Diffractometer

At the MuCAT sector, Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL USA

The diffractometer is used primarily for magnetic resonant scattering

Liquid Surface Diffractometer

Beowulf cluster

The group presently maintains a Beowulf Linux cluster.  It has twenty Intel 2.7 GHz Xeon processors, each with 1 GB of memory and Gigabit Ethernet networking.  The cluster is used to perform parallel calculations of phonon and spin wave spectra and evaluate their differential scattering cross-sections.

Spallation Neutron Source (under construction)
Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN USA
Scheduled to begin operation in 2006.

Group is heavily involved in the development of new instruments for the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  SNS is scheduled to begin operations in 2006.
